In Chile, it is custom to eat letil soup. It is suppose to start the week off right. So, here's to a good week, right?
Early this morning I woke up, got dressed in my "big girl" clothes and went on the bus, all by myself, for the first time. Nervous a bit? yes. So I got on the bus, which was full of people, and I couldn't see out the window. First mistake. So I figured, the stop I have to take is the plaza and it is the most popular stop, so I'd just stay on until most of the people got off. Second Mistake. So I got off with the masses of people and found myself about a 20 minute walk from where I needed to be. So, what is a girl to do but start walking.
Once I finally arrived to the International Center, Jaime took me in a collectivo (which is like a taxi but not private) to the Sanatorio Maritimo. They built a new building this past year which is away from the beach and in a poorer part of the city. So I had a quick orientation and got my work schedule and then left. Where I got another collectivo back to the apt., ate some lentils, and took a nap.
Then Barbi and I went to the center and waited for Oly to get me and take me shopping for veggies and more cell phone minutes. After walking to a veggie market, super market, and farmacy, hitting my head on the trunk of the colectivo, I am sitting with the Chipita and Oly waiting for Barbi and Dani to come home from class.
Tomorrow, I will do it all again, bymyself, and hopefully get to help out much more.
Hasta Manana (until 2mrw)
